What’s your favorite thing about triathlon?

My favorite thing about triathlons is the challenge. One race you might have a strong swim and an okay ride. Another race the run might feel great, but the swim felt like it would never end. There is always room to improve and it’s pure magic when you feel great about all three legs. During the race, the racers are like no other: totally supportive and encouraging.

What’s your favorite thing about the team?

So much to love about this team. For starters: the friendship, the encouragement, the support, the dedication, the meals and laughter that we’ve shared together and the list goes on.

What was the first race you did? Lake Wilderness Sprint.

What’s the best “rookie mistake” you’ve made? There are so many, but putting my watch on upside down was rather unhelpful!

What’s your best piece of advice for someone who’s new to the sport? Keep an organized transition station, because the less you have to think when racing the better.

What’s your strongest of the 3 sports? Running

What’s your weakest of the 3 sports? Swimming.

What’s your favorite thing about triathlon?

Just when you are getting tired of one sport, it's time to do a different one!

What’s your favorite thing about the team?

How much awesome fun it is and the great people to train with.

What was the first race you did?

The Three Lakes triathlon on San Juan Island. Such a small turnout, I *almost* won first place for women.

What’s the best “rookie mistake” you’ve made?

Running back to the transition area when I should have been running for the finish line (it wasn't very well marked, ok?!) :) Also, once I took my numbers off my bike before I tried to take it out of transition, without thinking. Never do this-- they won't know the bike belongs to you so they will assume you are stealing it, and it's very hard to prove you own the bike otherwise.

What’s your best piece of advice for someone who’s new to the sport?

Just keep swimming.

What’s your strongest of the 3 sports?

Cycling. Thanks, bike commute!

What’s your weakest of the 3 sports?

Swimming-- it used to be running, though. So there is always hope for improvement.
